It's Incredible!

It's incredible how dumb Hollywood is. Friday night, my family and I went to see a movie. Six of us. I never really keep track of what we spend at the show (Tam always pays) but I'm guessing it costs us about $80-$100.

We wanted to see Zathura, but Focus on the Family's Plugged In website (invaluable) said that it had too many bad words. So we boycotted it. They lost our hundred bucks. How many hundreds did they lose? They may never know. But I came across an article from Fortune magazine back in January that finally puts some real numbers behind the stupidity of the business-end of Hollywood.

I could only find a complete reprint on an animation studio site, but here it is in its entirety.

The Dysfunctional Family-Film Business

http://www.pluggedinonline.com/movies/index.cfmIt wasn't the number of words, but the choice of words. Don't know if I'm allowed to print this or not but this comes directly from plugged in's site...

"The movie opens with one brother calling the other a "d--k." And later, Walter gleefully includes "b--ch" in one of his sentences. That's inexcusable in a piece of entertainment such as this...Also, "a--" and "h---" are said once each, and God's name is misused as an exclamation a half-dozen times. "
